The first three Sundays of each month we host the best of local jazz, the second Sunday being an Open Jazz Session run by John Walter or Tom Unwin. On fourth Sundays we showcase talents in various genres, local or touring, on our Not Quite Jazz (NQJ) nights. See listings below or check out our monthly flyer page.
17th The Blow Up!
Dynamic, cinematic jazz groove, drawing on a rich pool of 60s and 70s soundtracks. Tom Unwin on piano, Stig Olson on sax/clarinet, Marcus Vergette on double bass and Ric Byer on drums.
24th NQJ (Not Quite Jazz Night). The Kit Hillbillies
From the deep, dark borderlands of the Tamar Valley, some old-timey, good-timey bluegrass. Rousing vocal harmonies that smuggle in some highly inappropriate local references. Think Betty Stogs rather than Harvey’s Bristol Cream. Not quite jazz, but some of the songs do have more than three chords!
3rd “Sam at 70” – JazzLab plays music and poetry by Sam Richards
One of a series of special gigs, this one will feature Sam’s own compositions. With David George on bass and Steve Crossen on drums, Sam will be on keys and vocals.
