JAZZ AND MORE ON SUNDAYS

The first three Sundays of each month we host the best of local jazz, the second Sunday being an Open Jazz Session run by John Walter or Tom Unwin.  On fourth Sundays we showcase talents in various genres, local or touring, on our Not Quite Jazz (NQJ) nights.  See listings below or check out our monthly flyer page.

20th  MARTIN DALE TRIO
Martin has played all the major jazz clubs in the UK in his time.  He regularly plays in jazz combos both in London (Sax Appeal, Jack Bruce Blues Experience) and in the South West.  Tonight he will be playing with Gavin Martin on piano and Kevin Sanders on string bass.

1st   HOT HOUSE COMBO
We are having a Hot time at the Bay right now, with Hotclub, french style last week, and now the Hot House Combo swinging in with their mix of hot swing and jazz with a touch of 1930’s New Orleans!  Willy Briggs – lead vocal and guitar, Lisa Briggs – vocals, accordion and washboard, Tim Heming – clarinet, Sam Massey – trumpet, Jim Rintoul – double bass.

15th  THE VINTAGE JAZZ COLLECTIVE
Zoe Lambeth (vocals, Clarinet & Saxophone) with a new band, doing what it says on the box, swinging vintage with a twist!  Steve Dow (guitar & vocals), Martin Jenkins (piano), Jim Rintoul (Bass) and Gary Evans (Drums) complete the line up.

A funky guitar & bass duo from Brixham.  With a mixture of originals and funky hits that make you want to get up and get moving!  Groove out to Prince, Bowie, Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, The Commodores, Talking Heads, Wild Cherry and many more.

29th  ZUM ZUM
A dynamic music project based on Afro-Caribbean dance rhythms (think salsa and samba) blended with jazz chord progressions creating a thrilling sound for dancers and audiences.  Created and led by percussionist Richie Dickson with Martin Jenkins – Piano, Jim Rintoul – Bass and Neil Maya – Sax.
